A Persian Malayer runner with rich motifs of traditional Malayer design. Sumptuous soft brown, sand and light pink tones are punctuated by accents of midnight blue. A running water motif runs along the inner border, symbolising purification, whilst evil eye motifs appear throught, symbolising protection from evil forces.
Malayer is a village in North West Iran that is famed for producing small rugs and runners. Malayer rugs were made by Turkish Persian communities using a Turkish knotting technique. They contain some of the most beautiful and interesting motifs of all Persian rugs.
