A Persian Tabriz rug with a highly sought-after all-over boteh (paisley) design and a rare colour palette. The boteh symbolises fertility and eternal life. The tight curves of the boteh symbols in this rug would have been extremely difficult to weave because rugs are woven row by row. Only a weaver of exceptional skill would have been capable of producing a rug of this quality.

Situated in northwestern Iran, Tabriz is the fourth largest city in the country. Tabriz rugs are known for their high knot count, tight weaving technique and soft wool.

This rug is in excellent condition with even wear consistent with age and low pile.
